There is a rare reverse delta at the mouth of the Pitt River, a result of deposition which occurs when rapidly flooding tides dam and reverse the main Fraser River outflow back up into Pitt Lake. The Pitt-Addington Marsh supports over 200 bird & 29 mammal species. Of note is the presence of Greater Sandhill Cranes feeding and nesting in and adjacent to the Wetlands. Part of the trail is grass-covered along the Pitt River Dyke, with views everywhere you turn. Christoper Brown’s House located at 5377 Coulthard Place was built in 1898 in a colonial Revival style, with gabled dormers, wraparound veranda, shiplap siding with corner boards. Joseph Brown’s House is located at 12745 Southridge Drive, and it too is a Colonial Revival House built around 1909, noted for its architectural and historical significance. The house features a central entrance, a steep pitched and hipped veranda roof. On the 11km route, the walk will take you by both addresses.
